Body camera footage from a police deputy shooting in Georgia earlier this week shows the moment that the deputy says he'd mistaken his gun for his taser, and blast the suspect in his Milledgeville home.

The Baldwin County sheriff's office received a call about a man who assaulted his mother at 49 West Apartments on Ga. 49 at around 2 p.m. on Monday, October 16. They'd arrive to find a contentious Jamel Jackson, 18, who according to authorities was uncooperative, prompting a scuffle with nine-year veteran deputy Charles Gillis. As video of the incident shows, Gillis and Jackson got caught up in a scuffle that led to Gillis pushing off, drawing his weapon, and firing. Gillis then immediately screams with frustration over having grabbed the firearm, rather than his stun gun.

Jackson, who had been struck in the arm, remained amazingly calm after the fracas. "Look what you did, now I'm bleeding. See?" he tells the officers in the video. Moments later the officer asks to take a look at the wound, causing Jackson to react hesitantly, before inviting the officer back.

Jackson was taken to Macon hospital and then placed behind bars at Wilkinson County jail the following day. He faces obstruction and misdemeanor family violence charges.
