The NBA season officially kicked off on Tuesday, October 17 with the matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. However, the excitement for the new season shifted after Gordon Hayward suffered a horrific injury to his leg and ankle. Many around the league and sports world have sent out their prayers and well wishes to the young All-star. While a return to the team seems unlikely for this season, Hayward let his fans know that he's going to be okay.

Before the start of their home opener against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, Boston fans in the TD Garden received a message from Hayward over the jumbotron. Hayward let the fans know he is appreciative of the well-wishes and love he's received throughout his ordeal.

"What's up, everybody? Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's had me in their thoughts and prayers," Hayward said. "I'm going to be all right. It's hurting me that I can't be there for the home opener. I want nothing more than to be with my teammates and walk out on that floor tonight. But I'll be supporting you guys from here, and wishing you the best of luck."
