UFC president Dana White believes former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is the among the greatest wastes of talent in sports history.

While appearing on the TSN MMA Show, White was asked if Jones is the biggest waste of talent with the current two or four-year suspension looming over him for his latest PED infraction.

"Ever. Ever. In all of sports," White said of Jones. "The guy is so talented and gifted, God knows what he would be doing now if he had never gotten in trouble. He could possibly be the heavyweight champion and have the defense record that couldn't be broken. The list goes on and on of what could've been with Jon Jones."

White has been a big supporter of Jones, 30, but their relationship became strained over the years and was exacerbated when Jones failed a drug test this summer and his win over Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 was knocked out.

Jones (22-1) is arguably among or the greatest fighter of all time but has been plagued by issues outside of the cage. The latest failed test is the second of his career. Jones previously served a one-year suspension for a failed drug test in 2016. He has maintained his innocence in the latest test and said the previous one was due to an unmarked sexual enhancement pill. Jones has also battled with cocaine use.

White told the TSN MMA Show he wasn't concerning himself with the length of Jones' suspension or the fighter's future in the UFC right now.

"Whatever happens, happens," White said. "Believe me, I'm not mentally or emotionally invested in that anymore."
