Chicago Bulls player Nikola Mirotic has been hospitalized after an altercation with his teammate Bobby Portis. Reportedly, the dispute between the two occurred during practice on Tuesday. The situation escalated after the two were trash talking to one another.

ESPN Reports: Mirotic charged at Portis twice before Portis threw a punch and connected with Mirotic's face. Mirotic dropped to the floor and lay there for several minutes before getting up, league sources said.

Mirotic was taken to the hospital and suffered fractured bones in his face. He was released later on Tuesday. The Bulls announced that surgery is likely for Mirotic, who was expected to start this season. Last year, he averaged 10.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

As for Portis, ESPN reports that he had a phone call about the incident with NBA officials in New York on Wednesday. League sources say that Bulls General Manager Gar Forman witnessed the altercation during practice. There is no word yet on what Portis' punishment will be.
