During a conversation with famed author Malcolm Gladwell, Gucci Mane discussed his take on trap music and the authenticity of the stories rappers are telling on record. Gucci said that growing up he was enamored by gangsta music. But that the music of his youth carried a level of authenticity on the streets that he believes is lacking from the trap scene today. Gucci stated that he considers trap music to be gangsta music but "most people who do trap ain't gangstas." He thinks that the artists today are merely imitating rappers who were really living that life.

To put it another way, Gucci said, "I got a little son, I would love for him to make trap music, but I wouldn't want him to live that gangsta life."

What's your take on Gucci Mane's comments?
