Tyrese provided some clarity as to what it is that ticks him off about Dwayne Johnson jumping on the opportunity to do a Fast & Furious spin-off, on Tuesday, October 10. The Black Rose singer gave a few moments of his time to oblige a TMZ reporter's inquiry into the matter while relaxing in a limo outside of Catch, in Los Angeles. “Everybody coming at me like I’m hating on Dwayne about his spin-off. I’m not. The truth is, I just wish he was releasing it at a different time,” he said.

Johnson and Tyrese have been seemingly trading subliminal shots over social media since Ty congratulated the wrestler-turned-actor for landing the flick, via a sarcastic post in which he blasted him for "making the fast and the furious franchise about YOU." Tyrese says he has no problem with Johnson taking advantage of the charismatic role he played as Luke Hobbs, only, he takes issue with Johnson and the studio placing the 2019 slated spin-off before the 9th installment of Fast. According to Ty, those anticipating the next release will now have to wait until 2020.

“The Fast and the Furious family, the fans, the tribe, the people that’s been rocking with us for 16 years, you know, pushing our release date back, it’s only happened one time in the history of Fast and the Furious, is when we lost our brother Paul Walker. So what’s the reason we pushing the release date back now?” Tyrese asked. “It appears that he’s so focused on furthering his own self-interest, he’s making decisions from the seat that he’s sitting,” he then said, calling the development "f**ked up."
