Previously, Rex Tillerson made it known that the United States was communicating directly with North Korea in terms of the nuclear and missile programs, but the rogue nation had no desire to communicate. Tillerson noted during a trip to China this past Saturday the United States is “probing, so stay tuned.” This is in reference to the U.S. looking to find other ways to communicate with Kim Jong-Un and North Korea.

The president did not hold back his thoughts on communicating with North Korea, as he took to Twitter early Sunday morning to voice his thoughts. Donald Trump said, “I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man…” He then said, “..Save your energy Rex, we’ll do what has to be done!” Trump concluded his thoughts on “Rocket Man” hours later via Twitter, saying “Being nice to Rocket Man hasn’t worked in 25 years, why would it work now? Clinton failed, Bush failed, and Obama failed. I won’t fail.” Since then, a senior U.S. official has come out and said: “At a time when North Korea is continuing its provocations, the President does not think now is the time to negotiate with them.” The official also noted that channels between North Korea and the U.S. are only there to get back American citizens being detained by North Korea.
