According to reports, the world’s heaviest woman has passed away at only 36 years old. The woman, whose name is Eman Ahmed El Aty, is from Egypt and the news of her death reportedly comes one week after her birthday. It was noted that at one point in time she weighed 1,100 pounds. Earlier this year, Ahmed El Aty reportedly had surgery and remained in a United Arab Emirates hospital afterward. The weight loss surgery which took place in April 2017, took away 660 pounds from the woman.

Despite losing all of the weight, Ahmed El Aty died from weight complications including kidney dysfunction and heart disease. Before her surgery took place this year, Ahmed El Aty had not left her bed since she was a young girl according to reports. Her family noted that by the time she turned 11, she was too heavy to walk, which resulted in the young girl crawling to get around. The doctors said that her weight issues stemmed from a thyroid condition. However, her family thinks that Ahmed El Aty had elephantiasis. The infection may have caused major swelling of her limbs. From there, the woman suffered a stroke that left her bedridden, which resulted in her massive weight gain.
