New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has been a supporter of Donald Trump, even donating $1 million to the president's inaugaration. Trump also referred to Kraft as a "very good friend" during the Patriots recent championship visit to the White House, but even Kraft had to speak out after POTUS' recent speech.

During a rally in Alabama for Senate candidate Luther Strange, Trump decided to speak out against NFL players kneeling during the national anthem. Trump encouraged NFL owners to fire any "son of bitch" who kneels and "disrespects the flag." Several NFL owners released statements condemning Trump's comments and showing support for their players.

Kraft was among them noting that he is "deeply disappointed by the tone" of the comments made by Trump. The Patriots CEO said he is proud of his players for the tremendous contributions they make in their communities and that their efforts bring people together, while politics is the most divisive. Kraft says he supports his players rights to peacefully affect social change and raise awareness in a manner they feel is most impactful.

Several players on the Patriots took a knee during the national anthem in today's (Sept. 24) game against the Houston Texans.
