Perhaps President Trump failed to realize exactly who he was insulting when he referred to Colin Kaepernick as a "son of a b***h" during a campaign stump in Alabama on Friday, September 22. Lost among the headlines about the President calling for NFL owners to fire players who protest, on the back of his feud with the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, was the fact that he had also slandered Kaepernick's mother with the insult. And Ms. Kaepernick definitely wasn't missed by the fact.

“Guess I’m a proud b*tch,” Teresa Kaepernick went on to tweet soon after she became aware of Trump's remarks. The Kaepernicks have kept a relatively low profile since their son set off a movement against police brutality that is now in its 13th month. During an interview with Deadspin Teresa admitted that she and her husband are not very political people, but in the same breath she confessed that they were anti-Trump as soon as they began to realize the kind of rhetoric he was espousing. Deadspin's Lindsey Adler got in contact with the home on Saturday and got her take on the remarks. To Teresa Kaepernick, they only confirm what she already felt about the President.

“The guy is not all there,” she told Adler. “I can’t tell you how shocked we were when he won, but we have been pretty vocal about it since long before Colin took a knee. So, we have some pretty strong feelings about that part of things. To see this man that you have no respect for, basically because of all that he’s done in this presidency so far, slandering my kid publicly.”
