News broke of a foul ball hitting a young girl while she was at a Yankees game, resulting in her ending up in the hospital. According to reports, third baseman Todd Frazier hit a foul ball that traveled at 105 MPH and ended up striking the young girl.

Since then, Frazier has spoken out about the accident, noting that he has been in contact with the family of the injured young girl. Before the Yankees versus Blue Jays game taking place on Friday, Frazier said he spoke with the girl’s father, saying, “He said she’s doing OK. We didn’t really get much into details about it. I didn’t want to cross any boundaries. I know how important family is. But he said she’s doing well, and he’s a really nice guy.”

He went on to say that the father told him “not to stress over it.” Frazier finished by saying, “He told me not to stress over it. ‘We understand how upset you were, but it’s nobody’s fault. It was just one of those freak accidents.’ And he said the family is just happy that she’s OK. That’s the bottom line. I think they’re going to do more tests in a couple days, and then hopefully she can get out of the hospital.”

Frazier seemed thrown off by the whole ordeal, which led him to say, “I’m all for protecting fans. I see teams already doing it now. I think 2018, that’s too late. I think it should be up sooner than that. It’s just a matter of figuring out how. I don’t know how long it takes to put nets up.”
