Although the Black Lives Matter movement has been going on for a few years, Justin Beiber is only now piping up about it. On Friday afternoon, the 23-year-old posted a picture on Instagram of the words, "Black Lives Matter." Beiber's caption read, "I am a white Canadian and I will never know what it feels like to be an African American but what I do know is I am willing to stand up and use my voice to shine light on racism, because it's a real thing and it's more prevalent now than I have ever seen in my lifetime..we are all Gods children and we are ALL EQUAL." It's not yet clear exactly what caused Beiber to express his thoughts.

The post may also come as a surprise to some because Beiber has mainly stayed away from voicing his opinion on politics and social injustice. It is worth noting the Popstar did turn down $5 million to perform at the 2016 Republican National Convention. However, he did recently use his status to help raise money for the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

What do you think of Beiber's stance on Black Lives Matter?
