On Wednesday, it was reported that JAY-Z had been offered the coveted opportunity to perform in the halftime show at Super Bowl LII, yet turned down the invitation.

At this time, however, the NFL has refused to take an official stance on the rumor.

"No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists," league spokesman Brian McCarthy told Pro Football Talk. "Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names."

So, while the NFL didn't confirm that Hova passed on the invitation, they also didn't deny it.

The Brooklyn rapper wouldn't be the first to pass on the chance to take the stage at football's biggest event; Adele claims she declined an invitation to perform at Super Bowl LI.

"First of all, I'm not doing the Super Bowl," Adele told the crowd during an August 2015 performance. "I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don't really -- I can't dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no."

Lady Gaga would end up landing the gig instead, and according to the NFL it was the "most-watched musical event of all time."
