Macklemore believes it's in the hands of white people to solve the problem of white supremacy in the United States.

The rapper recently interviewed with The Breakfast Club where he shared his views on the matter. “We as white people are the reason why white supremacy exists. It’s not on people of color to fix this problem. It’s on white people to fix this problem,” said Macklemore. He also believes things are easier for white people in America, even when it comes to the rap world. “It’s difficult for me to complain about me being white in America in any way. I think that the system is built for me to prevail. That is what white supremacy is. So it’s difficult for me to say it’s difficult. I think that anytime anybody talks about race in America, you look at what’s going on right now, you bring up white supremacy, you’re going to get a bunch of feedback and criticism,” he continued.

Macklemore thinks the conversation about race needs to continue and that it’s healthy for the future of the nation. Aside from his beliefs on white supremacy, the rapper also said he’s a supporter of Colin Kaepernick and his protests against police brutality. And even though he supports the former San Francisco 49ers movement, he admitted to not being bold enough to boycott the NFL even though he believes it’s the right thing to do.
