The Oakland Raiders homecoming on Sunday, September 17 also signified the homecoming of hometown hero Marshawn Lynch, who has, of course, chosen his native city for a prodigal son-like return to the NFL in 2017. And for many fans packing Oakland Alameda Coliseum, it was, if anything, Lynch's presence that would make the predictable contest vs. a dismal New York Jets team, exhilarating.

The Raiders had a 14-10 lead and were looking to add some security with seconds left until half-time when they cut Beast Mode loose. Proof that the veteran RB continues to command confidence, after a year-long hiatus from the game, showed in how he was fed the ball with three consecutive carries in the red zone. He'd bust through for a score with the third possession, and the stadium was lit. Lynch would spark his following up once more in the 4th quarter, bringing them to their feet with an energizing dance as the team managed a 35-13 lead.

Lunch would ultimately contribute to the 45-20 shellacking by totaling 45 yards with a touchdown on 12 carries. The commendable performance follows a solid Week 1, during which he carried the ball 18 times for 76 yards. He will look to bring that same level of success to D.C. next week when the Raiders head out to the East Coast to battle the Washington Redskins.
