Coming off of a season in which he won the league's Most Valuable Player Award with one of the most incredible stat lines in history (10.4 assists, and 10.7 rebounds), it was expected that the huge endorsements would come on the back of some kind of restructuring of his contract to ensure that he remains in OKC for the long haul. But while Westbrook moves forward in completing the final two years of his contract, without a word of an extension offer, he can rest assure that his sneaker money will be straight down the line. Late Tuesday, September 12, it was reported by ESPN's Nick DePaula that the Jordan brand has reached a deal with Westbrook that will keep the triple doubles king from going anywhere for the next 10 years.

The five-year deal Westbrook signed with the iconic sports apparel sponsor was set to expire at the end of the 2017-18 season. Jordan's offer is a clear acknowledgment of the brilliant future the company envisions that the 28-year-old still has ahead of him, as he seeks to repeat the record breaking season he is coming off of. It is also, perhaps, a nod to the basketball star's trendy and daring fashion sense, which at times through the duration of the season, proved to be just as big a story as his play was.
