In 2016, NFL running back Ezekiel Elliott was allegedly involved in a domestic violence incident. Because of that, the NFL issued a six-game suspension. The decision ended up being blocked by a judge, which led to the NFL filing an appeal of the decision. The running back previously filed an injunction request against the NFL’s decision that would enable him to play for the entire season while the issues are being resolved between both parties in court. However, with the league filing an appeal, there will be a chance for the NFL to show that the judge made the wrong decision.

If the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals rules against the running back after he gives his side of the story, then his suspension could be implemented as soon as possible. Reports noted that the court of appeals has a meager reversal rate, so it may be quiet for NFL. Because of that, the NFL filed an emergency stay of the judge’s initial decision against Elliott.

For Cowboys fans who are worried about Elliott being able to play during the ongoing case, there is no need to worry. The case is expected to proceed for months, which means Elliott can play in the meantime.
