As Hurricane Irma begins to stalk Miami beach, it has already caused immeasurable destruction in the Carribean. Larger than the state of Florida, Irma has left several islands uninhabitable and is predicted to become one of the biggest natural disasters in the history of the United States. With all the madness ensuing on the East Coast, it is easy to forget that Hurricane Harvey just hit the Houston area, causing more than $200 billion worth of damage; more than the cost of Katrina and Sandy combined. Massive donations have already come forward as relief efforts intensify in Texas. NFL star J.J. Watt of the Texans raised nearly $30 million through fundraising efforts, while Kevin Hart has raised millions as well.
Superstar Beyonce has also answered the call for relief, returning to her hometown with her mother to visit a local church and offer kind words for those hurt most by the hurricane. Dubbing it a "celebration of survival", the people seemed to really appreciate Beyonce's words.
