Previously, Seattle Seahawks player Michael Bennett came out and said the Las Vegas police racial profiled him after he left the Mayweather-McGregor fight. The alleged profiling incident found Bennett on the ground, where he said cops handcuffed him, put a gun to his head, and said they would “blow his f***ing head off” if he moved. The incident caused NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to issue a statement, saying that he wants to support Bennett in any way he can and that he hopes the issue gets resolved.

The police have responded to Goodell’s claims, saying that the player should be investigated for making “obviously false accusations.” Detective Steve Grammas wrote a letter on behalf of the LVPD, asking for the NFL to conduct an investigation “and take appropriate actions into Michael Bennett’s obvious false allegations against our officers.” The letter went on to say “While the NFL may condone Bennett’s disrespect for our American flag, and everything it symbolizes, we hope the League will not ignore Bennett’s false accusations against our police officers.” Since then, Bennett has noted that he is planning to hire a lawyer and take the department to civil court for violating his civil rights.
