The NFL season is set to begin this weekend, and NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick still does not have a job. It is well known that the 49ers had a terrible season with Colin Kaepernick as their starting quarterback, but a look at last years statistics reveal that Kaepernick had a pretty decent season despite the team record. He ranked #23 out of 30 starting quarterbacks for Total Quarterback rating, beating out the likes of Eli Manning, Cam Newton, and Carson Wentz; all starting quarterbacks. The difference between Kaep and the three players as mentioned earlier is that Kaepernick was playing on a significantly worse team and was still able to put up better numbers.

The sad reality is that Kaepernick has better numbers than a 1/4 of starting NFL quarterbacks, but cannot even get a job as a backup.

Despite his lack of employment, Kaepernick has received a lot of support from fellow athletes, entertainers, and everyday people. Last month, Spike Lee organized a rally in support of the former 49ers quarterback where over 1,000 people showed up. Recently, Cam Newton spoke out for Colin Kaepernick as well. When asked if he thought Kaep should be an NFL quarterback, Newton said, "absolutely." Check out the tweet above.
