The statue of a Confederate soldier was found toppled to the ground in a Columbus, OH cemetery on Tuesday morning, August 22. What's more, those responsible for bringing it to the ground also decapitated the statue and took its head.

Groundskeepers were able to get the statue back up after the discovery, but have no choice but to rest its hat on its shoulders. Authorities believe that the act occurred sometime between midnight and 6:30 a.m. at Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery, where roughly 2,000 soldiers of the Confederacy are buried.

A number of cases concerning destroyed monuments and statues have been reported in the days since the Charlottesville protest over the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue, that claimed the life of 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injured dozens more earlier this month.
