Recently, pictures surfaced of Samuel L. Jackson and Magic Johnson enjoying their life, sitting on a bench in Italy. The two paid a visit to the Louis Vuitton store where they balled out, then flocked to a bench afterward where they took photos with fans. However, an Italian journalist named Luca Bottura turned one of the pictures of the two into a racist meme, equating the two individuals to lazy African immigrants, saying “Government funds at Forte del Marmi.. they go shopping at Prada with their daily allowance of 35 euros.”
Currently in Italy, an anti-Immigration movement in effect called Casa Pound. The movement basically notes that citizens of Italy do not want to be taxed just to provide 35 euros a day to “lazy immigrants.” Reports indicated that last year 181,000 migrants were rescued from Libyan smuggling gangs and were able to settle in Italy. Needless to say, there has been some backlash against immigrant presence, and the racist meme posted about Jackson and Johnson is proof of that.
