Russell Simmons has some advice for those from territories once ruled by the Confederacy who fear they may one day no longer symbols of their old autonomous government to honor in public. "Use the American flag," says the media mogul.

TMZ was able to catch up to Simmons as he left Tao in Hollywood on Saturday, August 19. He was one day removed from having shared his thoughts with the public, as they concern the job Donald Trump is doing overseeing the United States. In an open letter published by the New York Daily News Simmons recounted all of the good things the Trump he once knew would do for marginalized people, and wondered aloud about what has happened to that philanthropic, liberal leaning, New York City business man. Simmons had a lot to say about the potential he once saw played out by Trump, and he said it all to say "It is time you take responsibility for your role in inciting this violence," in the aftermath of a dreadful week for the Confederacy sympathizer.

"Hitler lost right? We don't have a memorial for Hitler," Simmons said, as he expounded on where he stands concerning the growing movement to remove Confederate statues from public grounds around the nation. "We don't have a, you know, whole celebration of his effort. His effort was wrong. His intention was bad. It was hurtful. So we don't put up statues of him," he said.
