Just a day after chief White House strategist Steve Bannon was ousted from his position, Donald Trump hopped on Twitter to announce his appreciation for Bannon's tenure.

Since joining the campaign trail last August, Steve Bannon has come under fire for his extreme conservative platform. Bannon, who returned to his position of the chairman of the Breitbart News, used his power at the publication to take shots at adversaries of Donald Trump, including Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Despite reports that Trump was on the outs with Bannon following the events of Charlottesville, on Saturday, the 45th president took to Twitter to give thanks to his former strategist "I want to thank Steve Bannon for his service. He came to the campaign during my run against Crooked Hillary Clinton - it was great! Thanks, S"
