Kevin Durant had a brief spat with Britt McHenry after the former ESPN reporter questioned his choice to turn down a White House visit, in a series of tweets on Friday, August 18.

"If issue (fairly) is divisiveness in the USA, then use celebrity & platform to come together. Great leaders meet, not shun invitations to WH," the back and forth began by McHenry tweeting. KD would answer in a mocking manner, replying with: "Boo hoo. Sad story.....keep tellin me more."

McHenry had earlier taken a swipe at Durant, when in response to him going public to admit that he "doesn't respect who's in office right now," she tweeted, "I don't respect that you joined a super team to win an NBA title. But I still watched." But that post didn't seem to catch KD's attention, and if it did, he let it fly. McHenry would address Durant's comments on Instagram as well, wherein a long-winded rant she posed that in these divided times athletes "should meet with those they strongly disagree with, express their concerns, and more importantly, be an example for our society that despite growing tension, we can find a way to come together."

During their Twitter exchange McHenry would present a similar suggestion. "Ok let's discuss how a successful man such as yourself can show unity meeting w/ WH just 20 minutes from PG County. Your presence can inspire," she responded to KD's "Boo hoo" comment by writing. But Durant wouldn't fold and to the contrary insisted that "By doing the opposite, I am inspiring more people."
