The great-grandson of General Robert E Lee suggests that statues commemorating his late great-grandfather should be in museums in public spaces. This is a follow-up to the previous statement he made condemning the violence that has raged on in Charlottesville and elsewhere over the past week. “Maybe it’s appropriate to have them in museums or to put them in some sort of historical context in that regard,” Lee said. Those sorts of acts on Saturday, that’s just not to be tolerated,” Lee said. “We feel strongly that Gen. Lee would never ever stand for that sort of violence.” The general's family argues that after the war Robert E Lee wanted badly for the nation to come together after the deadly and bloody Civil War. They go on to say that the general would have never tolerated hate groups such as neo-Nazis and the KKK. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
