An activist school teacher who was arrested last month for assaulting a neo-Nazi during a 2016 rally in Sacramento is sticking to her position that using violence to fight the insurgence of fascism in the United States is not a crime.

Yvette Felarca, 47, is currently fighting a case that involves video evidence of her punching a member of the Traditionalist Worker Party in June of last year. She faces felony assault and a pair of misdemeanor charges for inciting and participating in a riot. During her arraignment, last week the By Any Means Necessary (BAMN) member argued that “Standing up against fascism and the rise of Nazism and fascism in this country is not a crime. We have the right to defend ourselves.”

Aside from the hassle of now having to fight for her future in a courtroom, Felarca is far from regretful that she put hands on the victim. In fact, she's told the L.A. Times that she is confident her actions helped make it less desirable for people to join them.
