Martin Shkreli was tried for securities fraud and conspiracy and ended up being convicted on August 4. Now, a transcript of jury selection for his case was published by Harper’s Magazine. The selection took place over three days in June 2017 and found jurors keeping it all the way real about the former CEO who pushed for a hike on medicine like Daraphim by 5,000 percent. For those unaware of why Shkreli popped into the limelight, he is also the same man who purchased the only copy of the latest Wu-Tang Clan album for $2 million dollars. Following his purchase, Shkreli actually exchanged words with Ghostface Killah via videos uploaded to YouTube, because Ghost did not agree with the pharma CEO hiking the price of medicine that many sick folks need.

Benjamin Brafman, Shkreli’s lawyer, spoke to numerous potential jurors and ask them if they would be able to decide the case based solely on the evidence. The responses varied from hilarious to flat-out disdain for Shkreli. One potential juror said, “I don’t think I can because kind of looks like a d***.” Another one said, “It’s my attitude toward his entire demeanor, what he has done to people. And he disrespected the Wu-Tang Clan.”

One juror took a glance at Shkreli and decided they were over him, saying, “When I walked in here today I looked atheism, and in my head, that’s a snake — not knowing who he was. I just walked in and looked right at him and that’s a snake.” Another juror explained that they have family that could have been affected by the price hike in medicine that he encouraged, "I’ve read extensively about Martin’s shameful past and his ripping off sick people and it hits close to me. I have a mother with epilepsy, a grandmother with Alzheimer’s, and a brother with multiple sclerosis. I think somebody that’s dealt in those things deserves to go to jail."

Since being convicted, Shkreli has called his conviction a "witch hunt of epic proportions" according to CNN.
