According to a Fox News report, Donald Trump is 'seriously considering' pardoning controversial Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio. It was reported in July, that Arpaio was found guilty of criminal contempt for violating the terms of 2011 court order against racial profiling. Arpaio's upcoming sentencing hearing is set for October 5, where he faces a maximum penalty of six months in jail along with a fine.

But Trump said of Arpaio, “He has done a lot in the fight against illegal immigration... He’s a great American patriot and I hate to see what has happened to him." When further discussing the matter of a conviction, Trump said pardoning Arpaio is on the table, "I might do it right away, maybe early this week. I am seriously thinking about it."
