According to court papers filed Thursday, Mexican drug lord Joaquin El Chapo Guzman wants his case tossed, claiming he was improperly extradited to Brooklyn. El Chapo's lawyers claim that the Mexican government initially only agreed to transport Guzman to Texas or California.

El Chapo's defense team claims that the indictment violates the extradition treaty between Mexico and the U.S. The defense team wants Brooklyn Federal Court Justice Brian Cogan to toss the indictment.

Joaquin El Chapo Guzman's trial is set for April.
