Suge Knight has been waiting to head to trial for a deadly hit-and-run incident that took place in 2015. Along with that, Knight was hit with a death threat case after allegedly threatening Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray. According to TMZ, Knight went back and forth Gray over the way he was portrayed in Straight Outta Compton, and if the Death Row Records founder deserved a fee. According to Suge Knight’s lawyer, one of the messages he saw found Knight saying to Gray: “You have family, I have family, God bless you.”

Since then, Knight was indicted by a Los Angeles Grand Jury for alleged criminal threats, to which he pleaded not guilty. Sure Knight’s family is saying prosecutors only pushed the charge because the statute of limitations on the alleged criminal activity was about to expire. The court ordered Knight to return for his next hearing on August 10, 2017.
