NFL great Ray Lewis returned to the topic of Colin Kaepernick on Tuesday, August 1, this time with a recording throughout which he speaks directly to the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback. On Monday, Lewis went viral for remarks he made in defense of Ravens owners reportedly being cautious about signing Kaepernick. During the FS1 Undisputed telecast, Lewis said that it isn't on NFL owners to address police brutality. In his message to Kaepernick on Tuesday, Lewis expressed his support for the Wisconsin born athlete/activist, all the while urging him to separate his play on the field from his fight in society.

"If you do nothing else, young man, get back on the football field and let your play speak for itself. And what you do off the field, don't let too many people know because they are going to judge you anyway, no matter what you do, no matter if it's good or bad," Lewis told Kaepernick.

He then went on to reiterate that he has no personal problem with the 29-year-old QB, before insinuating that he recognizes that Kaepernick's fight and his fight as one in the same, stating, "I applaud what you stood up for because I'm in the streets every day."

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti has communicated to the press that the team is currently doing "research" in order to establish whether bringing a player like Kaepernick on could help them succeed in Joe Flacco's absence. He says the door is none the less open, albeit they are continuing to take a look at other talents that could fill their top guy's spot in the passing pocket. Bisciotti has reportedly sought advice from Lewis on what move to make, and Lewis said he has responded by recommending the team first get a good sense of how long Flacco will be out.
