It looks like LaVar Ball didn't learn much from the trouble he got himself into in the media, when during an appearance on The Herd, in May, he attempted to silence FS1 host Kristine Leahy by telling her to stay in her "lane." On Friday, July 28, Ball once again dropped the line on a woman, this time with a female referee who he had removed from his Adidas Summer Championships game in Las Vegas.

Although he claims to have had a feeling that the ref has had it out for him since the Wednesday game she officiated over, Ball's disagreement with her on Friday stemmed from a technical foul she called on him midway through team BBC's 53-43 shellacking of BBB. Ball called for a stop in the action in response to the tech and threatened to pull his team off of the court. The commotion and the change that followed proved to be for naught, as he'd eventually incur another tech, at which point he was ejected and the game was called to an end.

Moments after leaving the court, Ball was greeted by a reporter who gave him the floor to explain why he took such an extreme course of actions against the ref, who happens to be a seasoned NCAA Division I women's basketball official. Ball accused her of having a vendetta against him, and then rather than focus the remainder of his explanation strictly on the crusade he accused her of taking up against him, he seemed to infer that her actions had to do with her trying to fit in as a woman.

"I get that she trying to break into the refereeing thing. But just giving techs and calling fouls, that's no way to do it. I know what she trying to say, 'I gave him a tech, i'm strong.' That ain't got nothing to do with it. Just call the game. If you're going to be qualified, then you better be in shape and you better know the game," said Ball. "I don't care if you're a woman or a man or whatever, but just be good at what you do. Don't try to step in the lane - she need to stay in her lane cause she ain't ready for this."
