A former US Navy sailor in Mississippi named Dwanya Hickerson stabbed a transgender woman 119 times after having sex when she revealed that used to be a man. According to Independent, the man stabbed 25-year-old Dee Whigham in the face and throat in a hotel room where he left her for dead after showering. Before the murder, Whigham and Hickerson had been talking to each other via a dating website for two months. From there, they arranged a meet-up. Hickerson had been picked up by Whigham near the Keesler Air Force Base so that they could head to a Best Western hotel nearby.
Surveillance footage from the Best Western showed the two walking into Whigham’s room together around 8:30 pm, with Hickerson leaving the room only 20 minutes later with his shirt around his neck. Hickerson was caught by police shortly after and told them that he had sex with Whigham before she noted that she was transgender. From there, Hickerson said, “I lost it, I lost it.” Hickerson was found guilty and hit with 40 years in prison, with no possibility of parole. He was charged with second-degree murder. Along with that, the 21-year-old was charged with robbery for taking Whigham’s cell phone and purse.
