A woman from Hawaii traveling to Boston recently filed a lawsuit against United Airlines after her two-year old son was forced out of his seat. According to the plaintiff, Shirley Yamauchi, she paid roughly $1,000 for the United Airlines ticket and was forced to give up the seat to a standby passenger that shared the same seat number.

The incident occurred on the second leg of the trip to Boston after a layover in Houston. A standby passenger was given the seat that Yamauchi paid for and what followed was Yamauchi having to hold her son in her lap for the entire 3+ hour flight. She said this experience was "unsafe, uncomfortable, and unfair."
