Trump’s thirst to pass a piece of legislature through is tremendous. The President will not stop, even if it means pushing forward a plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare, as it is commonly referred to.

News has now arrived revealing that Republicans are voting to move forward with a plan to repeal Obamacare. Senator John McCain has been at the center of this news, as the Republican who recently had a brain tumor removed, paid for his operation with insurance. That is pretty ironic, considering the fact that he is looking to strip millions of people of the opportunity to get the same health care by casting the 50th vote to repeal Obamacare. The votes ended up being tied 50-50, with Mike Pence stepping in to deliver the tie breaker vote to repeal the ACA. According to reports, all Democrats who cast a voted went against the measure to repeal the act.

Despite voting and repealing the ACA, Republicans still have to come up with a new policy that will actually replace Obamacare. Republicans can either vote for a repeal-only bill (doing away with ACA with no replacement) or vote on a “skinny” repeal. If they voted for a “skinny” repeal, this would get rid of certain penalties found in the ACA like being penalized for not having any health care, as well as penalizing employers for not offering health care to employees. Trump has been vocal about the voting, saying “This is the beginning of the end for the disaster known as Obamacare.”
