Media personality, Curtis Sliwa, was arrested while attempting to serve New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio court papers on Tuesday morning, July 25. Sliwa's girlfriend Nancy Regula escorted the Guardian Angels founder to the mayor's residence at Gracie Mansion, and videoed the incident in its entirety.

While Sliwa never comes face to face with the mayor, he did manage to toss the documents towards his motorcade as it exited the mansions gates. Regula could be heard saying that she believes the last ditched gesture indeed constituted a "serve" of the lawsuit he and his political Reform Party have filed against de Blasio.

Mayor de Blasio is being sued with the intention to knock him off of the Working Families Party line that has supported him throughout the years. At issue in the suit is what the Reform Party cites as a double standard. Sliwa attempted to lend his party line over to mayoral candidate Sal Albanese, with the intention of providing him support in his run to defeat de Blasio for the Democratic nomination in the upcoming election. But the city's Board of Elections rejected the move, citing a stipulation which demands that new parties entering the primaries process have a certain number of member votes from across five county committees. The Reform Party then turned around and pointed to the fact that the Working Families Party has traditionally chosen candidates based on votes from their own executive committee, and not from the five various county committees they've been informed they must receive votes from.

Sliwa had arrived at Gracie Mansion anticipating that the mayor would be leaving sometime after 8 am. He was never allowed to enter the grounds and was told that a staffer would come out to meet with him after he admitted he was there to hand de Blasio the court documents. However, the staffer never showed up, and when the mayor and his wife were loading up to make their way out of the gates, up to 12 police cars reportedly pulled up and Sliwa was asked to back away. His refusal to comply lead to him being placed in cuffs and he was charged with disorderly conduct.
