Just when you thought things couldn’t get any wilder on television, HBO announced that they are developing a show set in a dystopian timeline where the Confederacy won the Civil War. The show is set to be run by the showrunners of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the series is a drama that takes a look at events that led up to a third Civil War in America. The show will be set in an alternate timeline where Southern states actually seceded from the Union, which allowed for the U.S. to keep slavery in effect legally. Writers Nichelle Spellman and Malcolm Spellman are on-board for the show as well. Nichelle’s work ranges from The Good Wife to Justified, while Malcolm Spellman served as a writer on Fox’s Empire.
