The effects of Trump’s thirst to deport illegal immigrants has caused much backlash, and even cost some companies in the United States major money according to reports. Now, Target has come out and blamed the president’s antics for slowing up a number of Hispanic shoppers that were once present in their stores. Target’s CEO Brian Cornell spoke at a Fortune Brainstorm Tech event this past week and hinted at why Hispanic folks are shopping less. Cornell said “The Hispanic consumer in the U.S. is shopping much less. They are staying home. They are going out less often.” He went on to speak about the glaring lack of Hispanic people out-and-about shopping in places considered to be “border towns.” Although Cornell did not single out Trump by name, his comments were clearly directed at the swift deportation measures Trump has been looking take since getting into office.

Analysts from NPD Research Group tracked purchases from Hispanic people in the United States in the last year, with the results showing a drop of eight percent this year. One analyst named Marshal Cohen said “There’s clearly been a pullback. There’s concern about going out in an environment where you could be deported.”
