After Beyoncé’s sculpture receive an intense about of flak for making her skin look white, Madame Tussaud’s of New York has temporarily removed the statue.

A spokesperson reportedly told the New York Times that the figure is now “off the floor until further notice” did not provide any further information as to why it has been removed.

Madame Tussaud New York responded to the backlash in an email sent to the Times and explained why the images looked the way they did.

“Our talented team of sculptors take every effort to ensure we accurately color match all of our wax figures to the celebrity being depicted,” they stated. “Lighting within the attraction combined with flash photography may distort and misrepresent the color of our wax figures, which is something our sculptors are unable to account for at the production stage.”

In fact, patrons of the wax museum saw a very different wax figure that was based on her appearance in her iconic “Single Ladies” video.

The wax figure has since been placed back on display and have “adjusted the styling and lighting of her figure.” Check out the improvement up top.
