The cat was out of the bag in Cleveland on Friday [July 21], when ESPN's Brian Windhorst and NBA.com's David Aldridge leaked a report indicating that Kyrie Irving asked Cavs owner Dan Gilbert for a trade last week. In the aftermath of the bombshell, many in the media found themselves reflecting back on his being quoted as describing the team's offseason as "a little peculiar," during an interview with Sports Illustrated earlier in the week, as something cryptic. It also seems to have become apparent after the report's release, that one of Irving's star teammates knew exactly what he was getting at with the "peculiar" line, and threw it back in his face in the form of a subliminal remark on Twitter.

"Life is amazing. No complaints. Things are a little peculiar. But no complaints. Now go kick some rocks," Kevin Love tweeted a short time after Windhorst and Aldridge disclosed what was discussed between Irving and Gilbert one week ago. Sports news outlets quickly grabbed Love's tweet and published it as an added piece to the narratives that have spawned from news of Irving's possible departure. According to the ESPN and NBA report, Irving's mood about the present state of the team has to do with his growing desire to detach from James in order to become the "focal point" in another franchise.

Kevin Love is patched up until the year 2019, with two more years on his contract. Irving has three more years on the $90 million extension he signed in 2014. He reportedly told Gilbert he is open to going to New York, San Antonio, Miami or Minnesota.
