The Trump administration has been mired in controversy since taking office this past January. Discriminatory travel bans, excessive tweeting, and healthcare have all received around the clock coverage but it's Trump's alleged connection to Russia that could prove to have damaging consequences to his time in office. As more information is disclosed the calls for impeachment grow especially considering the political casualties he's already suffered in his administration
For that reason, Trump has asked his legal team to look into his ability to grant pardons to family members, aides, and even himself in connection to the Russia investigation. The legal team also has the special counsel Robert S. Mueller III in their sights as well. According to sources, Trump's lawyers are actively compiling a list of Mueller's potential conflicts of interest, which they think could undermine his reach with the investigation.
One of Trump's lawyers, Jay Sekulow, stated that “The scope is going to have to stay within his mandate. If there’s drifting, we’re going to object." For now, it seems Mueller's power as special counsel grants him access to Trump's family finances as well as Trump's tax returns and business deals dating back several years.
