Dr. Dre is reportedly working on the upcoming Eminem album.
Director Allen Hughes, who helmed the HBO docu-series “The Defiant Ones," which tells the story of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, recently told Uproxx that the legendary producer is still very much dedicated to manning the boards despite his success in other ventures such as Beats headphones. He also hinted at what Dre has been working on most recently. “Dre still records. People don’t know this: Dre records every day. Literally, he’s in there recording songs every day. He’s like Picasso in that way. He’s always painting. Right now he’s producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album. So Dre’s still real active in music, you know?” said Hughes.
Dr. Dre and Eminem last released a song together on Dre’s “Compton” album titled “Medicine Man.” Eminem’s last solo album, “The Marshall Mathers LP 2” did not feature any Dr. Dre beats, however, he was listed as an executive producer. The two have frequently worked together since Eminem’s debut album, “The Slim Shady LP.” Eminem even helped Dre reinvigorate his solo career in 1999 with the release of his “2001” album which featured many tracks with Shady, including the breakout single, “Forgot About Dre.”
Eminem has been hinting at the release of a new album since right before the 2016 presidential election. He released a 7-minute long freestyle intended to promote the album titled, “Campaign Speech” which took aim at President Trump. Aside from that song, the Detroit emcee has been relatively quiet on the music scene. He recently surfaced rocking a new beard and even popped up in an Instagram post with 2 Chainz. It’s unclear who will be featured on this new album or what it will be called.
