Some of hip-hop's purest fans joined the likes of legends like EPMD, Ice-T, T La Rock, Flava Flav, Main Source and Roxanne Shante to honor Eric B and Rakim at the Apollo Theater on Friday, July 7. There were even a couple of more contemporary artists on hand such as Maino, and some like Ma$e, who fall in between the 1980's and 2000's. One rapper who didn't make it, however, was Nas, who took to Instagram to vow that he won't be missing the next show. The Queensbridge rapper was also sure to throw out there how highly he regards the legendary god emcee and his president-DJ.

"The KINGS OF HIP HOP! Eric B & Rakim last night at the Legendary Apollo Theatre. They performed together for the first time after many years," Nas wrote. "So many pioneers of the game graced the stage. Salute to these two Kings and I want to say Thank You."

Eric B and Rakim haven't shared the stage in 20 years to be exact. And Nas may have to wait quite awhile before that next show he referenced actually goes down, as it was the celebration of their Paid In Full LP's 30th anniversary that finally brought them together. While such joints as "I Ain't No Joke," "My Melody" and "I Know You Got Soul," will forever bump in concert, Eric B initially teased a reunion in October of 2016, and since then there has been no public talk of plans for the duo to move in formation from this point forth.
