Rob Kardashian's July 5 social media meltdown could lead to jail time, according to a group of high powered lawyers, who believe his releasing of Blac Chyna nudes to the public violates California's revenge porn law.

The New York Daily News reached out to several attorneys with expertise on the matter, including internet privacy and sexual consent lawyer Carrie A. Goldberg, and celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom, who last month won a revenge porn case on behalf of actress Mischa Barton. They each agreed that there is a real possibility that Kardashian faces the threat of six months behind bars, which is the maximum penalty for committing the crime in The Golden State. "Kardashian’s conduct epitomizes 'revenge porn' — a jilted ex unable to handle rejection and jealousy in a mature way who aggresses by sexually exposing another individual," Goldberg told the publication.

According to the state's statute, which was established in 2013, revenge porn is the distribution of an image showing an "intimate body part of another identifiable person, or an image of that person engaged in sexual intercourse, sodomy, oral copulation or masturbation," with the intention of causing them emotional distress. Blac Chyna's alleged infidelity would hold no weight if such a case went to trial, and even her liking one of the photos would prove inconsequential to the ruling, so long as there was an agreement that the photos were meant to be private when they were taken.

"Revenge porn is illegal in CA, and it certainly appears to me that Rob has violated this criminal law," Bloom said.
