Mass Appeal got rap legend, Fat Joe, to stop through and impart some words of remembrance on his longtime New York rap peer and friend Prodigy, one week after his passing on Tuesday, June 27.

Joe reflected on having just recently gotten up with P after bumping into his at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia a couple of weeks back. He said the H.N.I.C. rapper was looking good, but in being cognizant of his storied struggle with Sickle Cell Anemia, understands that one can never tell, in hindsight. Joe went on to admit that he's been marveling over just how much love has been pouring out across the globe for Prodigy since his death, and takes it as evidence of just how great a reach his music has had.

"It's sad because I place him in the Mount Rushmore of Hip-Hop. You know what I'm saying? So, he's uh, he's a real treasure," said Joe. "We're on borrowed time. And it's like, what you do while you're here - the impact you've made - you know, it's been 20 years since Mobb Deep and it'll be 20 years from now they'll still be playing Mobb Deep and Prodigy. So, his life was just very impactful. And you can see how New York City is taking it and the rest of the world is taking it."
