Former Vice President of the United States Joe Biden recently attended the pool he worked at as a lifeguard in Wilmington, Delaware because the facility was being renamed in his honor. While attending the commemoration event, Biden spoke and told the crowd he wanted to get more involved in the neighborhood he was working in. Biden noted he would turn on the TV at home and listen to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Biden went on to say, "But I didn't know any black people. I owe you all. I owe this neighborhood. I learned so, so much. And if I were still a lifeguard, I'd say 'Time to get in the pool!'"

According to Newsweek, Joe Biden was the only white lifeguard at a swim club formerly named Prices Run Pool. The former vice president worked there as a teenager in 1962. Along with having a pool named after him, Biden also has a train station in Wilmington, Delaware that sports his name.
