D'Angelo Russell's reputation as a tattle teller preceded him to Brooklyn on Monday, June 26. When questioned about his past by a reporter, Russell gave a response some might say put another teammate out to dry.

During the Nets, presser to introduce Russell along with Timofey Mozgov to the New York media, a video he posted up on Instagram of him working out with one of the team's trainers. An ESPN reporter inquired about his level of motivation going into the 2017-18 season with a new team then followed up the first half of his question by making mention of his soured rep around the league, and whether he's looking to prove anybody wrong.

Russell said that he doesn't feel pressure coming from anybody but himself, insisting that he doesn't approach the game with intentions to appease anyone. Then he addressed his practice video, effectively throwing Caris LeVert under the bus. “Caris was supposed to be there, but he wasn’t,” Russell responded, with a quick glance over at LeVert.
