Today, the New York City MTA has confirmed a train derailment at 125 Street in Harlem. According to reports, a southbound A train hit a subway wall while traveling between 135th and 125th Street early Tuesday morning. One witness named Skip Suva spoke on the account, saying, "We were between 135th and 125th and...the train started shaking insanely violently, the lights started flickering. I was leaning against the left door, on the left side of the train, and right door was ripped open. I don't think anyone was hurt." The witness went on to say, "It was really dark, tons of smoke and dust, and white chunky things. There was a lot of distortion on the floor. The metal was pushed in, and either the door was jammed...or it was totally pulled off, like, opened like a book."

The MTA confirmed that a derailment occurred at 125th Street. One witness tweeted, "They didn't let anybody off (except 1 car) until smoke came...One lady began having a panic attack, and most people had to use their shirts not to breathe in the smoke. Some people are crying." An FDNY spokesperson noted that three minor injuries were confirmed.
