A body that was found charred in the trunk of a burning car in Birmingham two weeks ago has been identified as that of Paul Matthew Carter, otherwise known by the rap moniker Bam Bam Carter.

It is reported that some of the people who knew Carter recognized his vehicle in news coverage of the June 8 blaze, which police and firefighters responded to on Fayette Avenue at 3:22 a.m. The vehicle was found in an alley and was said to be so damaged that its make and model initially went undetermined. The body that was discovered was also said to have been scorched beyond recognition, but word of the possibility that the car may have been the deceased rapper's and social media innuendo helped authorities gain clues in the investigation.

Carter had actually gone missing two days prior to the discovery. Thanks to dental records his identity was officially confirmed on Tuesday, June 20. Thus far no arrests have been made and no possible motive established. Friends and family of the rapper have spoken of him as a man of decent character who they don't recall having gotten into any recent beefs, or been the source of any vendettas.

Bam Bam was 32-years-old.
